Holy Crap: That's A Lot Of Crap

Iis there nothing more wonderful than a friend? Generally I'd say no. Friends is it, they're where it's at, the bee's knees, the cat's pajamas, the whole enchilada, from A to Z, Major Paine, Total Recall, 8 Degrees of Separation, the shiznit. But truly, there is one thing better, and that thing is, are you ready? Here it comes. Wait for it. A friend who will help you move. (wasn't as good as you thought, huh?)

We of the Travelin' Van are lucky enough to have at least three such friends. Three people who have cemented their places in our lives for at least a year, as I'm told that's the going rate for day of moving help. Any plans we may have had to write these people out of our lives must be put on hold. They're on the non-shit list, and there for at least a while. And for Wayne, that's a HUGE step up. Congratulations Cockroach.

And here they are, in no particular order, our temporary heroes:

In honor of these fine people, we honor them. In their honor.

And so went our last day in New York. The ride down to Baltimore was unfun, since we had to ride in separate cars and Anthony's brand new cell phone, conveniently, doesn't work. Seems cingular thought it unimportant that the phone work outside of New York City and "forgot" to send the phone the necessary activation code so that it would. It's an understandable mistake, I should have been more specific when I ordered their "Preferred Nation Plus" plan. I should have mentioned that by "nation" I was expecting New Jersey and Delaware, too. My bad. Oh, and their customer service department is open Monday through Friday from 7-9, Saturday from 9-6, and not at all on Sundays. This is so ridiculous that I would laugh if I weren't already crying.

But wait, this wasn't supposed to be about me and my cell phone woes, woeful as they may be, it's about our helpful friends. Thanks, guys, we couldn't have done it without you. Well, we could have done it, but it would have taken a lot longer, we probably would have fought, maybe we would have broken up, or stopped talking to each other for a couple of hours, we certainly could never have finished two pizzas. In any case, thanks.
